Melrose District

Today marks my first adventure down in Melrose, one of LA's iconic fashion districts!  Talk about intense competition and unique, unique, UNIQUE styles!  I remember sitting in the car waiting for my friend to park and as soon as we hit the Melrose district, I immediately saw a difference in how the people there dressed.  Much more chic and in-style.  There are so many different styles, it's pretty insane!

For those who are unfamiliar with Melrose, it's basically an area that is flooded with mom and pop shops to fashionably-forward stores that carry clothes you would expect at stores in the malls like Forever 21 to expensive, one-of-a-kind pieces that can burn a hole in your wallet and bank account.  Literally, I saw a jacket for 2k thinking who really has that much money to blow on outerwear with ruffles on it's sleeves.  But then, I remind myself "oh yeah, we're in L.A., we got rich folks up in here on the daily."  The district itself is a diamond in the rough.  The area itself has dark, dirty sidewalks and are complimented with graffiti and street art but that's the beauty of this place.  If you are into fashion and plan to head to L.A. sometime soon, then check out the Melrose District.  It's great to observe other peoples' sense of fashion and who knows, you might find a great piece you'd never come across at the mall.
